Big-Eyed Brunette Vintage Blythe Doll by Kenner

SOLD - THIS BLYTHE DOLL HAS BEEN SOLD. PLEASE POST A COMMENT IF YOU’D LIKE TO BE NOTIFED WHEN I FIND A REPLACEMENT….IF I FIND ONE, THAT IS…..

The vintage Blythe Dolls by Kenner were manufactured in 1972. A unique feature of these dolls was a pullstring at the back of the head that, when pulled, changed the color of the eyes, also unique to these dolls, were their big heads on small bodies. Unfortunately, little girls found the big eyes that changed colors to be kind of scarey, so the dolls were discontinued. Today, the vintage Blythe dolls are highly collectible even if only in fair shape.

This Blythe doll is in excellent shape. Her face is beautiful with no scuffs or flaws that I can see. Her hair is a little messy but her eyes and eyelashes look great and the pullstring works to change her eye color.

Available from this series:
Although, these dolls were only produced for a short time, there were many, many Blythe dolls made. These dolls were recently reproduced, and the reproductions usually sell for retail or a little above if sold as collectibles.

I know this is a vintage Blythe doll but I haven’t yet found her by name. I have verified that the outfit is original vintage Blythe from the stitched in tag that reads, “Blythe TM by Kenner, Made in Hong Kong. She also still has her original polka-dot panties she wears.

Hello I am contacting you about this doll and have mailed you about her. I am interested in her and was hoping you could send me more photos of her to my email. Thankyou!

    Jen:

Glad to communicate with you as it is proving very educational. I am posting some of our comments here for others who might have the same questions you had about the doll.

There are no cracks that I see on her anywhere. There is a natural seam where the back and front of her head is screwed together.

The blush is pale pink and may be faded but lipstick looks perfect to me.

She is not missing any hair plugs that I can see and hair is not knottec, only loosely matted.

Her ears do have holes behind them.

She has seven lines of copyright info on her back.

Her arms and legs look slightly discolored to me and I have additional pictures that show this better, on request.

The very tips of her fingers and toes look to have lost a little of their skin-tone color but are not chewed on or damaged.

    Hello,
Is this doll still available and do you have additional pictures?

  6. admin Says:

Sorry, Lizzie, but she went about a week after I listed her. She is very happy in her new home. I’m honored that the lady who bought her decided to name her Neva, after me.

I’m in love with these dolls too and look EVERY time I go anywhere with dolls, to see when I might discover another one so I hope to have another vintage Blythe doll (or even some of the newer ones if I come across any at a good price) to list here soon.

I’d suggest registering and subscribing to the doll category, so that you will know as soon as I add another. They tend to go very fast.
